Why Skidmore? Because I'm learning to lead [Video]

At Skidmore, creativity influences the way students think, communicate and solve problems. It’s everywhere you look, in and out of the classroom … and the pool, as I've experienced.

My professors and coaches have challenged my creativity and made my think outside 这个盒子. The result: I feel more confident as a leader and learner.

我的故事

“My name is Elizabeth Levy and I’m a sophomore. My major is religious studies and I have an Italian minor as well.

“I’m on the swim team here at Skidmore and I’m also a captain this year. This season, I actually broke one of the College’s records in the 200 butterfly. That was really 令人兴奋的.

“Being a student athlete is tough but very rewarding. It’s definitely taught me a lot of very important skills, like time management and prioritizing.

“One thing I really love about Skidmore and my experience here in the classroom is professors really push you to think outside of 这个盒子 and push you out of your comfort 区. I definitely feel like I’ve grown a lot as a student.

“Swimming is an interesting sport because I think a lot of people think about it as an individual sport. But, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do in the water without my teammates. We push each other every day in practice and encourage each other. 当 we get to big meets we have individual goals, but we are also representing Skidmore and our team, so we also keep in mind that we’re a part of a bigger group.”
